With a change in venue this year, the SACC-Detroit's 13th annual golf tournament was held at Beacon Hill Golf Club in Commerce Township. Eighty golfers were in attendance on the beautiful (and one of the first ever for our tournament) sunny Monday. Our major gift sponsors - Saab Automobile USA and IKEA - delighted participants with IKEA gift bins filled to the brim with fun products and Saab golf towels and ball sleeves.
The winning team of the scramble was again PCT with a score of 59. Second place - Clark Hill - also carded a 59 but lost on the tie-breaker 7th hole. Individual prizes went to Nick Rollick and Michele Eaton for straightest drives and Margaret Mioduszewski and Wally Long for closest to the pin.
Raffle items this year included University of Michigan football tickets donated by Don Tucker, signed Red Wings' hats, golf packages, premium wine selections, Detroit Tiger tickets donated by Detroit Regional Economic Partnership, Buick Open tickets donated by GM/Buick, and a Nike Sumo driver. Don Tucker - perennial emcee - auctioned off a signed Red Wings banner, a Garland Resort golf weekend and a Walloon Lake House Rental. The premier raffle item was 2 SAS tickets to Sweden donated by Scandinavian Airlines and won by Barbra Bloch.
