SACC Detroit hosted a dinner in honor of newly elected Deputy Prime Minister/Minister for Enterprise & Energy Maud Olofsson on Monday, January 8. Gold and Silver members were also invited to attend a private reception with the Minister prior to the dinner. In addition to SACC Detroit members, representatives from the Embassy of Sweden, Business Region Gothenburg, Vinnova, Nordic Reach, and SACC USA were also on hand for the formal dinner.
Urban Lundberg, SACC Detroit Chairman, welcomed the audience and introduced Gunilla Girardo, SACC USA President, in town from Washington DC. Gunilla spoke about the great success of EDAYS 2006 and the momentum that is building for increased Swedish-American networking and trade opportunities. Speaker L. Brooks Patterson, Oakland County Executive, recounted his successful trip to Sweden last August with the result that 3 or 4 new business opportunities may be coming to Oakland County, Michigan.
Consul General Lennart Johansson introduced Minister Olofsson who spoke about the efforts the newly elected Swedish Government would be undertaking for more successful results in business and trade areas.
